The idea of sharing Sunday lunch arose from the recognition of how many parishioners dine alone most of the time. So anyone who would be dining alone on the fourth Sunday of the month is invited to come and share lunch in Holy Name parish hall at 1.45. We share a roast dinner with rather special puddings, a glass of wine or juice, and coffee and chocolates. There are 37 presently on the list although our usual number sitting down is about 24.
We are most grateful for the generous help given in the preparation beforehand and the washing up afterwards given by parishioners. We entertain each other after lunch with poems, jokes, shared life stories and reminiscences of past times.
£5 covers the cost of the meal and anyone who would otherwise be dining alone is most welcome to join us. Reminder of the next meal is announced in the newsletter the week before and diners are asked to tick their names on the list in the porch for catering purposes.
