The churches in Oxton have been meeting on a regular basis since the early 1980s. St Peter’s, St Andrew’s and the Quakers along with the Wirral Christian Centre joined the other churches to give the group its present title. Maitland and Bethany churches also joined the group some years ago and Christ Church, Oxton joined in with the activities. Maitland recently relinquished their place on the ONCT (Oxton Noctorum Churches Together) committee.

At Pentecost in 1989 the five main Oxton- Noctorum churches – Holy Name, Oxton Congregational church (now replaced by the Wirral Christian Centre), St Peter’s, St Saviour’s, and Trinity with Palm Grove – signed a covenant. A copy of this can be found near the baptistery in Holy Name.

The group meets four times a year. Each church has two representatives plus clergy. Typical activities planned by the group include pulpit exchanges, Lent study groups, Lent lunches, Good Friday Walk of Witness, and Unity services, usually on the fifth Sunday of the month, at one selected church on a rota basis.
