The Legion of Mary is a lay Catholic organisation for men and women. It was founded by Frank Duff in Dublin in 1921 and now there are groups in most countries of the world with about three million members. Each group (called a praesidium) meets every week, where prayer is intermingled with reports and discussion. The meetings last about an hour and the members undertake to do some apostolic work each week.
At present there are four members in the parish group. We meet every Monday morning after Mass at 1015 a.m. We are called active members because we visit the sick or lonely in homes or in hospitals etc. or carry out requests of the parish priest. We also have auxiliary members who promise to say the Legion prayers and rosary for the benefit of the whole Legion.
You would be very welcome to become an active or auxiliary member. Just come and see us and give it a try.
