Partners Credit Union is based in Dale St, Liverpool but also has an office open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in Magenta House in Hamilton Street just below Hamilton Square.

It is a non-profit organisation which pays a small dividend annually on members’ savings. It is regulated by the FSA and covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme so savers’ money is safe. It costs £2 to join Partners. There is a simple application form and members commit to regular savings over a 12 week / 3 month period before they are eligible to borrow. Subject to a satisfactory savings record they can usually borrow up to 3 times their savings to a maximum of £1000 for the first loan. Maximum loans are available up to £15,000. Partners also run a cash ISA currently paying 2.5% for 2 years.

Members can deposit money in person at one of the collection points, or by post, by standing order, by debit card or with a paying in card. Paying in cards can be used at any pay point or any Post Office. Prepaid cards work and look like any Visa card. You ‘load’ money onto the card at your credit union, then use it to withdraw from ATMs or make purchases in person or online wherever Visa is accepted. You can also obtain cash back when you make purchases in person.

Application forms and general information, can be obtained from Fr John (232-4130) or Michael Elliott (652 8041).
