The children's liturgy takes place within the 11.30 Sunday Mass at Holy Name and is split into two groups for pre and post communion children respectively.  There is no minimum or maximum age limit and the children of the parish are welcome to participate in the programme for as long as they wish.

The children join their relevant groups after the penitential rite and return to the Mass during the offertory. The liturgy is delivered by volunteer catechists from the parish and is based upon a liturgical programme that follows the themes as set out for each liturgical year by the church. The programme is geared towards the specific needs of each age group and whilst the approach and content may differ, the central theological themes remain unchanged.

Catechists provide an opportunity for the children to reflect upon the gospels in an active, creative and informal environment. The catechists encourage the children to understand how the gospel values of Christ can be incorporated into their daily lives at home, at school and with friends and family.  Children's liturgy also provides the children of the parish with a sense of belonging to a religious community, as they are invited through the programme, to participate in each other's shared faith journey. We would welcome any new children or adult volunteers to join us.
